Features
Your bookings, your Stripe account, no commission from us.
On a paid plan, clients pay by card into your own Stripe account as they book, and BookBookNow takes no commission on those payments – you pay Stripe's card fees and nothing per payment to us. No Stripe account yet, or on the free plan? We can collect card payments for you instead, for a commission you see before you switch it on.
Connect Stripe in one of three ways
You already use Stripe
Sign in at Stripe, approve, and you come straight back to your admin. Booking payments appear in your usual Stripe dashboard.
You are new to Stripe
Open an account through us. Stripe asks for your identity and bank details on its own pages – about five minutes – then pays you out automatically.
You would rather paste a key
Copy a secret key from your Stripe dashboard into your admin. The site registers the webhook it needs with Stripe by itself.
Every new site starts in test mode, so you can make a booking with Stripe's test card before real money moves, then switch to live mode on the same page.
Your own Stripe account: On Starter, Studio and Pro
The money lands in your Stripe account
Clients pay the full price on Stripe's checkout page as they book. The payment goes to your Stripe account, and Stripe pays it into your bank on your account's payout schedule. What you pay us is your plan: paid plans run from £12.50 a month + tax, billed yearly (£150.00 + tax a year), or £15.00 a month + tax paid monthly.
Stripe still charges its own fee on each payment, depending on the card and where it was issued; Stripe publishes it on its UK pricing page. Your account works in any country Stripe operates in, in your site's currency. A paid price must be at least 1.00 in that currency, or Stripe's own minimum where that is higher: below that Stripe refuses the card or its fee takes a large share of the payment.
What commission-free means here. No commission from BookBookNow, whatever the price or number of bookings, when clients pay into your own Stripe account on a paid plan. Stripe's card fees still apply, and card payments on the Free plan carry our commission.
Refunds follow the policy you set
Your cancellation window
Set how many hours before the start a client can cancel with a refund (168 by default, a week) and move a booking (48 by default). Clients do both from the link in their emails.
Automatic or by hand
Switch on automatic refunds and an in-policy cancellation goes back to the card through Stripe. Or refund in full from the booking page, or record a refund you made another way.
Part of a payment back
Refund some of the price. The booking stays confirmed, the client is emailed the amount, and the amount refunded shows on the booking and in your bookings export.
On Studio and Pro
Only managers and owners refund
With team logins, front desk staff can take bookings and check people in but cannot send money back. Only the owner changes how the site gets paid.

Your own Stripe account, or we collect for you
If you would rather not deal with Stripe at all, BookBookNow can take card payments on your behalf, for a commission that includes Stripe's fee for standard UK cards. It is the way to take cards on the Free plan, which has no monthly fee; card payments we collect cost 6.5% + 20p* each.
| Your own Stripe account | We collect for you | |
|---|---|---|
| Plans | Starter, Studio, Pro | Free, Starter, Studio, Pro |
| Commission from BookBookNow | None | Free 6.5% + 20p*, Starter 5% + 20p*, Studio 3% + 20p*, Pro 2% + 20p* |
| Stripe card fees | Charged by Stripe on your account | Included for standard UK cards; a dearer card adds Stripe's extra fee at cost |
| Where payments go | Your Stripe account | Our Stripe account, as your balance |
| Payouts | By Stripe, on your account's schedule | When you ask, by bank transfer, after a 7-day hold by default |
| Currencies | Any Stripe supports where you are | GBP, USD or EUR |
| Stripe account needed | Yes | No |
* Commission per card payment we collect, from our pricing page; the note at the foot of the page covers dearer cards. Payouts we send have a 1.00 minimum unless you take the whole balance, and any bank transfer fee comes out of the payout. We send a monthly VAT invoice for the commission.
What it does not do
- No deposits, part payments, instalments or tips: the whole price is charged when someone books.
- No card readers, Stripe Terminal or pay-by-QR at the desk.
- No memberships, class packs or monthly subscriptions charged to clients.
- No own Stripe account on the Free plan.
- When we collect, payouts are not automatic and prices must be in GBP, USD or EUR.
- No pay-on-arrival choice online. Door payments are recorded by marking a booking you added as paid.
If you rely on memberships or class packs, take most payments on a card reader, or need deposits for retreats, a system built for those will suit you better today.
Setting it up takes a few minutes
Open Settings → Payments in your admin and choose how you want to get paid; you can change it later. Our guide to payments with Stripe covers each route, test and live mode, and refunds.
Questions
Is there a booking system that takes no commission?
Yes. On BookBookNow's paid plans, when clients pay into your own Stripe account, we take no commission. You pay your plan and Stripe's card fees, and nothing to us per booking. On the Free plan, card payments go through us with a commission on each one.
Can I use my existing Stripe account for bookings?
Yes, on Starter, Studio and Pro. Connect it from Settings → Payments: sign in at Stripe and approve, or paste a secret API key.
Do I need a Stripe account to take card payments?
No. If you charge in GBP, USD or EUR, BookBookNow can collect card payments for you on any plan, for a commission on each payment that includes Stripe's fee for standard UK cards. You ask for a payout to a UK bank account or an IBAN once the hold on new payments has passed.
Can I switch from BookBookNow collecting payments to my own Stripe account?
Yes, on a paid plan. Your balance with us has to reach zero first: once the hold on your latest payments has passed, request a payout of the whole balance and wait for us to send it. Card payments taken in the meantime join the balance and are held too, so plan the switch for a quiet week. Then disconnect in Settings → Payments and connect your Stripe account; bookings cannot take card payments between the two steps.
Who sends payment receipts and handles chargebacks?
With your own Stripe account, both happen in Stripe. It emails card receipts if you switch them on in your Stripe dashboard, and you answer any dispute from that dashboard. Each booking page in your admin links to its payment.
* The commission includes Stripe's fee for standard UK cards. Stripe charges more for some cards – about +1.3% for premium and business UK cards, +1% for European cards and +1.65% for other international cards, plus 2% when Stripe converts the payment from another currency – and we add that difference at cost, shown against each payment.

No card needed on the Free plan. Paid plans from £12.50 a month + tax, billed yearly (£150.00 + tax a year), or £15.00 a month + tax paid monthly, with a 14-day free trial.
Prices are in GBP, before tax. Tax is added at checkout for where your business is: UK businesses pay VAT at 20%, which a VAT-registered business can usually reclaim.
